Default 1415 hot ammeter wires
hello all and thanks for such a great site i can only hope as i go along and learn about my tractor i can pass on some knowledge to others. i recently just purchased a 1415 that looks to be unmolested. however when it is keyed on in either postion the red and black leads on the ammeter heat up and if i didnt key it off they would eventualy melt into the gas tank.............any thoughts?

YUP.....You have a electrical short.

What is the Chassis Serial Number of your Lawn Tractor....???

I'll post a proper wiring diagram for your tractor once I know the S/N.

Talking S/N
the s/n number is 000149978 and model number just in case is 139 242 100. over the weekend i pulled the whole harness out and inspected it. i found a melted ground? (black) wire in the plug for the ignition switch and the red smaller wire that goes on the starter celenoid (i assume it for voltage readings) that also was melted after cleaning and inspecting for any other bare wires and repairing the black and red wires i put it all back in and still had the hot ammeter wires. i wire diagram would be great! its so nice to have a site like this!
