Is this possible with the different electric system? Are the 2 front housings the same?
I want to keep my headlights for blowing snow and stuff. Any help? |

They are not the same. However, I'm pretty sure you can install the 1450 lights in a 149 nosepiece if you leave off the IH emblem. Headlights are headlights, they don't care if you have an S/G or alternator charging system.
BTW, a 149 should have come with headlights standard. |

YOu are correct that they should have come with them. But, the one i am looking at appears to have had it's nose piece swapped out with a 109

Does the 149 have the wiring harness intact yet? If not,you will have to make one up. The fusible links for the 1450 are installed in the dash tower as opposed to the 149's is underneath. Not a biggie, but they have different wiring jobs. Make sure you also keep the headlight switch if the 149 doesn't have one, they are about 40 bucks to buy. I am making a spare QL series headlight wiring harness in case I have a failure.Pretty easy to make and the ends that plug into each other can be found on most cars in the junkyard. That 149 looks pretty decent you posted pics of.

I won't know if the harness is there, until he drops the machine off at my house. Is there a link on this site where an electrical diagram for the 149 is?

I'm getting ready to do the same thing on my 149. I have a set of lights from a ql and my 149 came with nothing in the nose. I also plan to do the stiffener with a piece of aluminum angle. I understand it helps keep the mesh straight and may help reduce vibrations to the lights. I saw it recently on one of these forums but will have to look it up myself. Maybe if someone knows they can post where this mod is.
Good luck to both of us! Wayne |

I am pretty sure you can swap the whole nose cone from the 149 to the 1450....I did the same with my 1250 and a 12x ....The earlier nose cone has a built in stiffener and it will outlast the quietline design if you have any luck.

Excuse my ignorance...but is the nose just the piece with the headlights in it, that the hood attaches to, or is the nose also include the piece from below the headlights (The grille area)?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
