I'm OK with other than Cubs being used to do mundane jobs like cutting grass. It saves the Cubs from unnecessary ware

Nothing wrong with it if it works for you. I have an 11 year old MTD-built Huskee 46" deck that I use. Will use the 86 as a backup mower when it is down, which seems to be all the time. It was down 4 times this season with belt broken, thrown drive belt, screwed up blades and a siezed idler pulley on the deck. That's not counting when I had it in the garage for replacing the front tires that wouldn't hold air and changing the oil and the filters (air and oil). The deck drive pulley is wobbly now too, but not going to change that out until it actually goes, might get a new mower when they put them on clearance sale this fall (have authorization from the Boss too!).

My "boss" went to lowes & came home with 2 huskavarna mower both self propelled walkers 1 was listed 250$ got it for 100$ & the other was listed 75 $ & parts only! Got that for 9 $ . Got them home checked them out both run great! So check the resale racks some people buy & can't use equipment , break it return it ( store sends out for repair & puts it back up for sale repaired now they can haggle on price ) big savings on almost new!

Update: Breakdown #5 on the Huskee... bracket that holds the deck to the lift mechanism on the right side broke off. Was able to get my little TIG welder going again (loose wire inside) and got it welded back on and back in action.

Thanks for the advise fpatd, I'll keep my eyes open.

If I need to use my BU mower I use this one....It does have a Cub Cadet engine in it...I have about 150 bucks into the whole tractor as it was sitting behind a home with grass all around it...(Blown Onan)...

You always need a backup plan....

That's hilarious, I'd want to see that sometime. Maybe I need her to negotiate for a new mower for me when the time comes!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
