When I bought this a few months ago, I knew it needed some PTO work on it as the PO didn't like fiber buttons. This 70 was not used too much to mow or anything else for that matter. At one time, it did have a deck on it from an Original, so I removed the mod, and proceeded to remove the PTO.
Pulled on it to see how the bearing was and it came right off. It looks like the locking collar was never set as there there no marks in it . So I cleaned it up and gave the parts a light sanding on a piece of glass.Still had the scratches in it from the factory but it was a little oily. Paint on the spring was not even worn off New thrust button, disc NOS of course and some new anti rattle clips and I will reassemble it in the morning.Action shots to follow...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
