Question Cub cadet 100

Hello everyone, my bud has a cub cadet 100 chassis for sale since he blew the engine and took it out. I was wondering if his asking price of $150 was a reasonable price to pay for a chassis. He said he wouldnt give me the engine though. Thats a bummer. But yah, if I could get opinions from ya'll on this, that would be helpful.

I would wonder why he'd want a blown engine. The 100 would be a good deal if everything was in decent shape. I would offer him $100 and tell him that's the going price for a "push tractor". You might even start at $75. You will be able to find a replacement engine for around $100 making your total a good price for a 100. Or you could shop for another 100 and have a good source of parts but I don't recomend that....ever. Cubs are being butchered every day and there are only so many out there to begin with. Also tell him if he ever decides to give the engine up to keep you in mind first. I assume it's the original engine for this tractor.

Good luck....Wayne

Impossible to tell without pictures, and it really depends on how bad you want it and what you want to do with it...

Believe it or not, but you can find a running Cub for $150....not often, but it does happen. As stated, it really depends on the condition and how bad you want it.

Yo Sam-

Good point that I forgot to mention. Everything I said is assuming it isn't a rust bucket and totally frozen.

CBH-

I came across a running 1250 early last spring on cl for $150. It even had a strong, nonsmoking engine I now have in my other 1250 (just borrowing it). It was also only 5 miles away. Very lucky catch.... Last year about this time, again on cl I got a 128 with good ag tires, rear lift, back blade, and plow but no engine for $40. I had to drive about 10 miles for that one.

wshytle, sounds like you have pretty good "Cub Luck" on your side! I had to drive about 75 miles from home to get my 124 and snow blade for $150 !

I was talking to my bud and he won't go lower, so I'm not going to deal with him. I'll look for a new one. Does anyone know where I can get a cub 100?

I agree - $150 is too much, but it depends on how much you want it. And I hope I'm not out of line here, he's not much of a bud - sounds like he knows you want a 100 and is gouging the price accordingly. Of course, I don't know, but that what it sounds like to me.

Again, I might be wrong here and probably am out of line.

I would still tell your "bud" that you'll be good for $75 if he ever decides to get rid of it then walk away. You'll probably be hearing back from him. It sounds like he thinks he has something special (which he sort of does). He may very well get his asking price but don't be surprised if you hear from him.

Again...good luck

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
