The battery hasn't been charging on my 122. With my cover off the V/R, should I see a spark between the contact points like ignition points? If so, I'm not seeing anything out of either contacts. any input? Thanks

Check to see if your grounds are cleaned and tight. Also check to see if all electrical connections are tight and clean as well.

First check the S/G to see if it's making electricity or not, take the belt off of the S/G pulley, turn the key then short out the "F" terminal to ground with a jumper wire, the S/G should slow way down if it is making electricity.
If that proves to be good then run a jumper wire from the pos battery post to the "bat" terminal on the V/R if that doesn't make it charge then go here, http://www.cubcadetman.com/content/i...tor-&Itemid=53 Authors disclaimer: Please understand that I do not believe this information to be "all inclusive", I am sure some of the other folks here know a lot more about diagnosing a non charging Cub Cadet than I do, so by all means, listen to what they have to say.

No, they are not points like that. You should not see any spark.

Would not the S/G slow way down and come to a complete stop if you remove the belt from the pulley while it is running. And would it not , not be turning if you remove the belt from the pulley with the engine off????? |

Hi Lonny,
Yeah, maybe that wasn't as clear as it could have been. Take the belt off (with the engine not running) turn the key to the start position and hold it there (so the S/G spins, like if it was starting the engine). Then short the "F" terminal on the S/G to ground. If the S/G is capable of making electricity, grounding it will cause it to slow down. I hope that makes it a little more clear.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
