After reading all the posts about plowing, I have to give it a try. Obviously, I have a 122. Do you all recommend a 10" or 12" single bottom plow? And what type of hitch do I need to pull it?

Im going to say try to stay away from the 12'' plow. I have a 1650 with a 12'' and it works it hard . I would bet with a 12 horse you will have trouble.

Hey Jeff122!!!! How's it going good buddy!!!
Glad to hear you're going to start plowing with your 122!!! Trust me, you're going to enjoy it. It's a lot of fun plowing with these awesome pieces of machinery. As for what size of plow do we recommend. Well that's totally up to you. But I will tell you this. I use a 10 inch Simplicity Plow and it works great. As for the type of Hitch you should use. Depending what type of hitch your plow has since these plows come in a 3 point hookup and a Sleeve Hitch hookup. But normally everyone uses a Sleeve Hitch hookup. If yours has a Sleeve Hitch hookup, you will need the Sleeve Hitch Adapter in order to hook up your plow. I'll put some pics at the bottom of this post to show you what I'm talking about. Well I hope this helps in one way or another??? Take care good buddy!!!! MATT Sleeve Hitch Adapter ![]() ![]() Simplicity 10 inch Moldboard Plow (Thanks for the pic Dale!!!) ![]() ![]()

Good morning Jeff122!!!! How's it going good buddy!!!!
First off, thank you very much for the kind words Jeff. I really do appreciate it. Jeff, you can get that brand new Sleeve Hitch Adapter at Carter & Gruenewald for $125.00 plus $8.00 for shipping. Just thought I would let you know. As for the plow, keep an eye on the ad section here on the forum. Sometimes, a member or two will have a plow for sale for a decent price and also ship it to you. Or you can go to our Parts Sources Section here on the forum. We have a good selection of parts guys that have a decent selection of plows for sale at a good price. If not, shoot me an email. I might be able to find you a good plow that's ready to go to work. Hope this helps in one way or another???? Take care good buddy. HAVE YOURSELF A GREAT DAY!!!! ![]() MATT

And Good Morning to you Matt,
I have located a few hitches and plows so far. That $125 sounds pretty good. I also found plans to build a hitch. But as I said, I have some time to shop around. I'll have to deal with plowing snow first. What model is your tractor with those huge wheels on the back? And does anyone have a picture of the sleeve hitch on a 122? I can't seem to see how the hitch will bolt on. Or where it bolts on up near the seat. |

Matt,
Just finished watching some YouTube clips of Cubs plowing. That one guy looked just like you. :biggrin2.gif: I noticed everyone had the big handle for a mechanical lift for implements. I have hydraulics. Does that make a difference? |

All this time we're talking about a "sleeve hitch adapter". I don't think I have a sleeve hitch to put the adapter on. Do I sound completely ignorant?

Jeff122,
You can plow with either a hydraulic lift or manual lift, doesn't really matter. Unless you have a spring assist on your manual lift, it will be much easier to lift the plow with hydraulics. Doesn't mean you can't do it with manual, just takes more effort. Here's a link for parts you'll need to plow. You'll need the plow, a 3pt hitch, and the sleeve hitch adapter. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4 Jason |

So in other words, you would use a three point hitch with hydraulics and a sleeve hitch adapter with manual?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
