Default Disc Flex Couplings on 1250

I am currently replacing the ISO mounts and doing the engine cradle upgrade on my 1250. While taking the engine out I removed the drive shaft and all 3 of the Flex Coupling Discs. Would it be advisable to replace all the discs now while I have them out? They are the original (36 years old) but are in good shape and show no real signs of deterioration.

Rubber gets stiff over time, but if they look good it's your choice. Kinda like a tire. We all have cubs with tires that are weather cracked, but they still hold air so why replace them? It's your call.

At $15 a piece if it doesn't need them I say nay.

On my 1200 I needed to replace only one disc, the other two were not torn at the bolts, so the call was made. I say if it ain't broke don't .

i used one old one on my 1250, as the other was shot.. but i would recommend buying 2 more from the series before and doubling them up on each end.. on mine i was doing a custom driveshaft anyways, (tool stock stainless) which only creates the need for for the engine side spirol pin hole to be moved back by 5/16", and then of course longer bolts to secure them..there are good write ups on this forum i believe of this modification.. and if you see the "meat" or material comparison between them, (the disks themselves) or do heavy grunting with the tractor, then i would definitely recommend

If they are hard as a rock and/or distorted, I'd replace 'em all.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
