starter generator repair
My buddy has a starter generator that locked up while pushing snow and he's a little short on cash so I'm going to attempt to fix it for him. We are pretty sure the bearings locked up but haven't tore into it yet. But I'm going to try and replace bearings and the bushings while its apart instead of running it to the shop. Is there anything I should be on the lookout while taking it apart and putting it back in. Thanks

My son and I did a S/G on our original with the help of our mechanic neighbor. we replaced the bearing and bushing without much difficulty. It took all of our hands to put it back together and keeping the brushes back so it would go all the way together without ruining the new brushes. If you do a search here there are a couple of posts of how to hold the brushes back. I read those posts after we did the work. It would have helped if I had the knowledge before doing the repair.
