Found this cub today driving by wth my budy. As i saw it i said i have to have it! They guy told me 250 bucks. I went home got my trailor and went back. I handed the guy 200 in 20s and he took it! The tractor was froze in the ground so i jacked it up to unstick it from the ground.... the rear end is froze bt im thinkin there is water in it from sitting all winter. The guy says it runs and drives and mows! He said it spits oil out the over flow tube. Hoping its an easy fix!

Dunno why it was moved. Born and raised IH Cub Cadet.
![]() It's got an early grill in it. Nice find on the "special" tractor. ![]() Ya know I've never paid attention before, but one side of the hood says "582 special" and the other side says "special 582". Kinda funny.

I moved your post. The 582 per the info I looked at it said "582 special (ccc made for IH)" after checking the serial number it looks like a late IH so I moved it back. Sorry for the confusion. Sam

nice find on the 582S . I dont think they are rare as in a looked for tractor. its rare cause no one wanted it. the rear trans in my 582 would run circles around the 582S I would love to own one only to add to my collection.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
