Hey does anyone have a measurement, or tell me how to tell what size filler opening I have on my 1250? Went to finally order one last night the one the PO had on there has never fit right. Come to find out there is a large and small neck size. I'm assuming it's the large, but anyone know the measurement the caps have the gauge on them so want to be sure before i order. I believe it is the original tank. Thanks for any info.

Should be a filler cap (gauge) part number IH61635-C3
That's the only one shown for replacement.

Sorry was not sure where to post. Thanks Zippy1, was on CCspecialties site and they listed the same part # you posted, but they had a IH109037-C2 for a Quiet line series w/ a large filler hole. Both are 6" in length with gauge. That's where my question started from. LOL I assumed the Quiet line series would all be the same. Thanks was just trying to make sure I had the correct cap size. I will order the small one. PO has one on there but believe it is not the right fit.

There are two size caps per several of the sponsers. Check the threads on the gas tank. My cap didn't fit correctly either and I cleaned the threads up with a small general file set from Harbor Freight.

Ok I will take some pics of my tank and filler neck. And post measurements of ID of filler neck to compare some. I just want to be sure I have the small neck before I order.

I was always under the assumption, that the Q/L Series tractors used all the same gas tank. Didn't know of two different gas caps.

The gas tanks are the same but the fill neck is different on the early ones.
I think around serial# 560210 they changed to the bigger neck. Serial# 560209 and below had the smaller neck. Pictures would be most helpful. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
