Default Need a clear pic of a Model 72 K161 ID plate .
Does anyone have a readable ID plate on a Kohler K161 7hp engine or know where I can purchase a blank one ? The plate is 3 1/2" by 1 7/8" and mounts oriented vertically on the engine shroud just behind the carb . A clear picture of a good one would be appreciated . Mine is mostly unreadable . I would like to reproduce it by silkscreening onto a plate of aluminum and transferring the serial number and spec numbers to the new ID plate . Mine has too many of the words rubbed off . Any help would be appreciated . I'm new here, own a 2206, 104 and am restoring a model 72 .

Welcome to OCC, glad to have you here. I am sure we have a few members who will be able to help out. Mine is still too dirty to read very good. I removed it and am working on trying to clean it without destroying the wording. Not going too good.

Here's a pic of one from a early 61. Your serial number will change the serial number. Please don't copy the numbers in the pic. There is a company that is already making engine decal stickers. It's a wheel horse fan but the info is the same. Got to find that info for ya.

Default A transcript of the words would also suffice .
An easier solution might be to just provide the words, line by line . There's enough info on my ID plate that I could fill in the missing words . Thanks to all who can help.

1968(?) 104 w/mower deck, creeper gear , wheel weights
1970 model 72 w/mule, 7 hp big bore ( in restoration process )

Still learning about these great machines . Should have started years ago .

Nice to have you at OCC! If we dont get you another pic of the i.d plate for that k161, then maybe later today I could post you one up. Yes, these tractors were the very best ever to be made. Would love to see your restoration progress of the model 72. I'am a big fan of the 71 and 72! I know the model 72 was introduced in 1968, but I dont recall how long the production run was for.
