I have fluid leaking from the from driveshaft output on the transmission. Over the summer I drove through high weeds and they got caught around the driveshaft and were plugged up in there pretty tight. I was able to remove the weeds, but it is also leaking there (from the pressure of the weeds being wrapped around it?). Anyhow, I have identified that the part that I need replaced is IH-377959-R91 (Oh yea, this is a '63 Original!) and have found that it is NLA. What is the process of finding a replacement (this is my first foray into NLA parts on a tractor)? Any help is appreciated!

Ok, so what I'm taking from your description is that you knocked the seal out the reduction housing? Is this a seal that you speak of? If so, did you cross reference the numbers to see if the seal is available from other sources?

Yes, the seal is loose or something in the reduction housing. That is the question that I was looking to get answered. Where do I find some sort of a cross reference to go to in order to find a part that may be purchased?

Take that number over to a bearing house or ask the sponsors above

FWIW seals usually are listed by:
Shaft size Outside Diameter Width then type of seal/style ----but it's prolly a std. seal. Many times I go to my local (very close by) Green Ag dealer and get seals for a lot of my off color equipment.( usually do it online) Napa is helpful also. luck! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
