Wheel bearing in steering column problem
I have placed a wheel bearing in the top of both 1450 steering columns. Neither is tight like the plastic bearing was. Is there a way to get these bearings tight other than expoxy them in? Center punch around the outside of the column?

What I did was took some very dense foam and cut a washer to fit between then bearing and the bottom of the steering wheel. This helps to hold the bearing in place and gives a nice, finished look. A little bit of black silicone around the outside of the bearing and inside the steering column tube doesn't hurt, either.

I'm also have problems with the front wheels. The bearings are snug, but not tight. I purchased 6 RBC bearings, RF122214PP, flanged bearings. The wheels are in rough shape. the old bearings were actually cracked in several places.

Problem with front wheels is the wheels. I cleaned them with brake cleaner and they look like they were used with no bearings in them. Front spindles are grooved also.

steering column bearing
@ CDLong, On my 104 I wrapped several strips of aluminum duct tape around the bearing till it was built up enough. Works great,. Chris
