I'm picking up a 149 tomorrow nite to "fill in" for the 1450 until I get the engine back together. She's very rough. Homemade exhaust stack, (owner says he has orginsal muffler). Seat pan but no seat cushion. S/G starts her but won't charge,(any ideas here?). I wanted a second tractor to help with the mowing and to mount the tiller on. I still want to add the 3rd hydraulic circuit to the rear of the 1450. Owner says he'll show me how to "jiggle" the wiring harness to get her started, (any ideas here?). Needs 2 new taillights.
Are there any quirks to the 149 I should now about? It was a toss up and $100 difference between the 149, (1 hour away) or another 1450, (4 hrs away), so I saved the hundred bucks and went for the 149. Will be nice have the brothers. Maybe I should get a 147? No, attachments won't fit. Thanks for any help with quirks!

No 149 came home. Raised the price after I got there AND tractor was way worse than I was told. Time to resume the search for a second tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
