Thumbs up How I love old diesel

Been working a lot lately getting tractors ready for Red Power Round Up and today I got around to the 650 V8. The tractor hasn't run in 20 years. The only thing I did was put batterys in it. I got on it and it didn't even crank over twice before it fired up. This thing is awesome. It is a one of a kind experience to drive it. Anyway I was surprised it started with 20yr old diesel. They sure don't make it like that anymore. The pic is before I got it started and running. I will get some current pics later next week.

diesel engines are in certain applications far superior to gas. even long periods of inactivity doesnt stale fuel. originally designed to run on available oil(peanut oil) diesel are the original flex fuel engines since they will run on almost any oil.

Thanks guys. It has a IH 550ci V8 engine with about 200hp. The back tires are fluid filled 30.5-32. It was built to pull a 7yd scraper we have. My uncles have moved a lot of dirt with that tractor.

Beautiful! Nothing better than classic IH iron. Hmm those exhaust stacks give me an idea for the 2072 project.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
