I am sure that this has been discussed on here before but I cannot find any detailed info on it.
The three pin drivers on the 1200's look very flimsy compared to the other solid type drivers. Is there a way to change this out to a better set up? Spending $125.00 on one of these flex type drivers is just crazy. The flex plate in the tractor now is cracked.......so I don't want to throw good money away if there is a better way to do this. I have installed the solid motor mounts on it as the others were tore up.....REAL bad. Joe

I have had a couple redone by using the old style driver and having the self align. ball bushing installed by machine shop. one has been run for 4 years with no troubles.

It was designed the way it was for a reason...the engine is going to move around because of the mounts, so the driver must be flexible. If you've solid-mounted the engine, I can see no reason why you can't use a 70 through 128 clutch driver, but I must add the disclaimer that I have not done this and don't know if the length of the pins is different or something I'm not thinking of.

Thanks Matt and Mark,
I am going to try and scrounge up a driver from Evil Bay and the bearing adapter plate. Checked Midwest today for an adapter and could not find anything....anywhere. Really, kind of surprised that there isn't more out there on this subject. Being new and learning these cubs and how tough they are, I couldn't belieive how light weight that driver flex plate is compared to how other things on the tractor are somewhat "overbuilt" compared to today's standards. The thin metal adapter that is attached to the motor also has a chunk out of it, so I am going to have to take that off anyway and put something else on there. I just don't have enough spare parts............don't want to say the JUN......K word...to do any mock ups to see what would work best and be a good solid improvement over the old one. Joe

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
