Well, after several stalls and cleaning out the carburetor, I finally broke down and removed the gas tank and lookie lookie what I found.
First I must say that before I ever started the M18 that I put in the tractor, I had drained and replaced all of the fuel lines, removed the float/bowl assembly, cleaned it, and I added seafoam and startron to the gas that I put in to run through the engine........well, two times this thing stalled on me and I removed the bowl and cleaned it out again.......the fuel filter was not catching all of the crap....BUT WHERE WAS IT COMING FROM ??? So, not wanting to go through this breakdown experience again, I pulled everything apart and here is what it was...absolutely cruddy valve and the fuel filter had caught a little more this time but not enough. Also found some "other" debris in the tank from the previous owner. Bought new valve, new tank valve bushing, new bowl gasket, "Massen-gilled" the tank REALLY good. Tomorrow, I am putting it all back together, flush all again etc. Might be worth draining out your fuel tanks guys and check them out. Joe

Oh thats just some real pretty stuff there..the 107 I just bought was hard to start and would stall out when throttling up, so did the same thing and found pretty much the same thing. My glass bowl filter was over half full with dirt, grime and gunk, the po had no clue what he was doing with it. Pulled everything apart took the carb cleaner to the carb and put it all back together and now its smooth as glass..

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
