Nice Cub,
Are you going to overhaul the KT-17 or get another engine? |

Nice looking tractor!
I suppose "blown" don't mean supercharged, eh? How bad is it? Can it be rebuilt, or is there a big hole in the side of the block?

He'll have to replace it...You cannot rebuild a Series I because all of the Series I-spec parts are NLA.
Nice looking tractor though...the good news is, lots of engines will fit. |

Thanks guys!
Yeah, Matt is right. There is a window in the side of the block! It will be getting another engine. |

It's just another one in the line of projects!
The 682 did come with a really nice 44" deck that had a new shell a couple years ago. I also have a yeller and white 782 and a red 682 that have the windows in the Series 1's too! They will be transplanted first. I'm not very fond of the Series 1 engines at all! |

Beautiful 682!
![]() I just dropped a K301 from a 1250 in my red 682 to replace the fragged series I. Fit well with little modification, and runs beautifully. Jeff (teet)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
