hello all guestion i have is about the gas we use. Looking at my operators manual,it says this engine is designed to operate on leaded gas with a 93 minimum octane,or on unleaded or low lead gasoline with a 91 minimum octane.Im useing 87 regular right now but by the book im wrong.Should i use a lead substitute?And is gas stabilizer just to help the gas from going bad from sitting over time?

My Kohler engine manual states to use 87 octane or above. There's no need to run premium in it or use a lead substitute.

I always run 93 octane in small engines. A friend owns a small engine shop and explained that 87 octane will give you preignition and generally thumps the lower end.

Read Merk's post in the last page of the "Fuel Filter Opinions" page. There is NO REASON to run premium in these things because of the extremely low compression ratios; the K241 has ~6:1 ratio and the K341 ~8:1.

I use no higher than 89. I put just a little bit of MMO in the gas can and I use StaBil if the fuel will be in the tanks/can for more than a couple weeks. I agree with Matt your wasting your money using 93.

You will need a compression ratio of 9.5 to 1 to justify 93 octane gas.
