My 149 speeds up
Last week I set my engine to the proper RPM's for high and low throttle. Now Im noticing that if I am on high throttle and I move the hyrdo lever forward a little to go slow, it keeps moving forward to high speed by itself. I was wondering if this is normal or another little project for me to work on? Thanks, Mark

Sounds like another project. Possibly trunion and or hydro linkage repair/adjustment time.

My 982 does that - takes me on a heck of a ride. I'm thinking that the linkage is a little loose.

Thanks for the info and for that repair sheet. Guess I will be taking the tunnel cover off today and have a look see.

You can tighten up the hydro lever. 149's had 2 different styles.
Early style has more of a clamp you can snug up. Later style has a nut straight on the bottom of the shaft that you can tighten. You will see once you get the tunnel cover off.

I looked under the hydro control shaft and their was a clamp that I tightened. I went too much the first time and it wouldn't move after that. I then loosened it a little and it seems to be holding just fine now in position. Thanks for the help!

The 109 I just bought does the same thing, except if you're sitting idle without the break on, it randomly takes off on it's own! It doesn't do it every time, but once it gets moving in either direction wether intentional or on it's own, the hydrostat lever will jump to full speed. Fixing that is the next thing on my to do list.
