tore into the steering gear on my one 125 that had the loader on it . eveything is trashed no ball bearings left the cap on the end of the box I had to break apart cause it didn't want to turn . The problem I have how do I fix the tube that presses into the sterring gear housing ? is the bearing that goes up on the steering wheel end supose to be loose ? this is the first box I have been in to and I started with most wobbed out junk I had

I'm not sure if this is your problem but, this is how I fixed mine. This was on a 1450.

Re-expand the end of the tube with a muffler pipe expander (cheap at harbor freight) and put some red loc-tite on the end of the tube and stick it back in.

well i fixed the problem . I had aspare steering gear laying aound I saved from work out of a 1000 pulled it apart cut the tube down to length and put the 125 shaft in, done

The box on my 882 was in bad shape. I pulled it all apart, cleaned everything up and gave a light sanding to the end of the tube and the box. Then I wiped it down with lacquer thinner, applied Loctite 609 retaining compound and beat the tube in the box. All is good so far. It was a pretty tight fit but as Matt said you may need to expand it a little.

Re the bearing up by the steering wheel, the one on my 1650 is the same size as the front wheel bearings (3/4" shaft), but originally it just came with a bushing, not a bearing. I think many folks replace it with the bearing, but I doubt it really makes much difference.
