Default A little carbon

After 12 years of snow plowing, grooming my gravel drive. My 129 is sick. rebuilt the carb. (# 26 carter) Removed the head to find shes .30 over. and full of carbon. Cleaned her up nice lapped the head flat. Installed the new head gasket. Started her up and tweeked the carb in ( I think) ran her and when i shut her down she ran on sputtering and gasping for life. Too Much gas ?? Im not sure what she needs???

Sounds like you have a "hot spot" igniting the fuel after the ignition is turned off. Might be a bit of carbon let on the head?

Regards, Guido

Default run-on

Do you have ~2 turns out on the mixture screws? You can count carefully and return the adjustment to where it is without messing things up too much. If it's 1.5 or 2.5 it's probably not the problem. If it's 4 or 5 it might be.

Guido's comment is a good one. Did it do this ONCE, or does it do it all the time now?

Did you mess with the timing or points at all??

Once you get the carbon off, flatten your head, check your points and reset the timing and see if that cures it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
