Default 2 GT2000s with different enignes?

I got a deal on a second Cub 2000GT
Both appear to have the Kohler Command CH640 as expected.
However the air filter cover on one says Command PRO 20 while the other says Command 20. I did a little googling and supposedly the "Pro" is for commercial or high-demand applications. Crank and bearings are beefier, cooling fins are larger etc etc. I've never heard of this. Is it correct?
SN#s are:
PS-CH640-3100
PS-CH640-3051

I noticed this back when I had a 2155. I think all "Command" engines are "Command Pro" its just different naming based on the year? I'm not exactly sure and maybe someone else could chime in, but I'm pretty sure they are the same? Command is the commercial engine and Courage is the consumer?

You are correct Apex944 the Command is the normal engine the Command Pro is a beefed up version
Have a Kohler brochure detailing the differences

Not perplexed if the info were consistent.
I have seen docs saying your info is correct, and then I also have seen where all CH640 Kohlers had the same parts. Maybe it depends on the year as I have not seen "updates by year" info.

I asked Microsoft's Copilot this question....
In Kohler gasoline engines, is there a difference between the Command model and the Command Pro model?

FWIW here is the answer....
Yes, there are some notable differences between the Kohler Command and Command Pro gasoline engines, especially in the V-Twin models like the 18, 20, 23, and 25 HP versions.
The Command Pro engines are essentially upgraded versions of the standard Command line. Here’s what sets them apart:
- Larger air and oil filters, which improve filtration and extend maintenance intervals.
- Higher oil capacity, thanks to the larger oil filter.
- High-efficiency cooling fan and screen, which help in demanding, high-heat environments.
- PTO sleeve bearing, useful in applications with higher side loads.
- High-performance spark plugs and a few cosmetic touches like a yellow oil cap and dipstick.

Thumbs up

thx guys,
... so the info about beefier crank bearings and larger cooling fins was incorrect.

> Higher oil capacity, thanks to the larger oil filter.
I assume the larger oil filter has the same base and threads?

> High-efficiency cooling fan and screen.
Can this be easily swapped between std & pro?

> PTO sleeve bearing, useful in applications with higher side loads.
Same question

Also, any idea on the exhaust question from my other post?
https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...ad.php?t=63194

both are CH640s, but quite a large difference in pipe size. 2013 'Std' has the large pipe and the 2011 'pro' has the small pipe.
Also noticed the hinges for the engine cover are modified on the one with the large pipe (2013)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
