Default 125 hydro rear axle leak

I have hydro fluid leaking out the end of the right rear axle, dripping down onto the wheel. This has developed recently.

Any suggestions on needed repairs?

Thanks,

Jim K.

you need to change your axle seal.

You need to drain the rear of hytran, remove the snap ring from the affected axle at the pinion, slide out the axle, replace the seal, and reverse the order...refill with hytran. Its not a difficult job.

Here is the service manual for reference.

I just did it last week, it's a pretty easy job. I have pics and such in the 1650 project thread at page 19, if you want to see mine.

Dave fyi posting page numbers might not work if someone has changed the default style. I view all threads with 40 post per page were the default is 10 post per page. A post range (19 - 23) or the actual post number if the info is just one post and not several post.

You can order from one of the sponsors or some people have crossed them with NAPA seals.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
