Default Quiet line brakes

Does a 1650 or any of the quiet lines have an internal brake, are they a wet brake or is the braking done with the transmission.

Tia, Tim

Hi Tim
I just picked up a 1250 and it has external mechanical disc brakes like my 106 narrow frame. You can see them from the back at the axles on each side.I didn't know some may have internal brakes so I learned something new.

I don't know for sure but I thought the gear drive Q/L's had internal brakes and the hydro models had external. I could very well be wrong though.

I have had several QL series tractors. Seems like the earlier models all had external brakes.

The four QL's I have now all have internal brakes. Two 1450's, a 1650, and even the 1200 gear drive I have, are internal brake. They are all 78-79 models.

I have no idea if IH optioned internal/external throughout the run, or if they all were internal after a certain serial #.

My 1200 has internals and the 800 we have has internals. Both of the 1450's we have and had have externals. The 1250 also had external brakes. My 128 had externals, but I swapped to internal brakes as I like them better..

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
