1210 oil problem
I have my 1210 running very well now. But.... I have a problem. It wouldn't start for me yesterday. i took the air cleaner off and found that it was soaked with oil. I left the filter off and the tractor would start. I decided to quickly with it to see if it ran good with it off. It does run great. I put a new filter in it and finished mowing. No problems. Now today, same thing. I took the soaked filter off and checked the oil in the motor. i thought it, must be overfull. It as actually down a little. I ran it for a couple of laps through the yard with no filter and parked it in the garage. It dripped a mix of oil and gas out of the carb . It made a puddle about 1 foot diameter in about 5minutes. ( This was after it was shut down. It has no smoke at all coming from the muffler. I a little smoke coming from the engine area where the hot oil is running down the engine.) Any ideas? Thanks, Jason

Is there gas in the oil? If so, don't run it again until you figure out where that came from. I would rebuild the carb, as there shouldn't be gas running out of it. If it's in the oil, that might be because of the fuel pump. Does that engine route the breather vent into the air filter? If so, that's one place the oil could be coming from.

The fuel pump is new. There is a tube that runs from the block to the air cleaner cover. It is about 1/4 inch diameter. Could it be plugged? Like I said it doesn't smoke and it has a ton of power. If it didn't leak, i'd have no issue.

Breather tube
On an auto this tube will have a check valve in it. I'm not sure if our motors have any such thing but it would make sense that there would be some kind of restriction or valve to prevent what is happening to your filter. Also the breather tube needs crankcase pressure to work so maybe there is extra pressure coming from some other source. Maybe ring blow by or a broken ring? I would bet on this area being the cause of your problem. But hey, I am not that familiar with Kholer engines and their internals.

Had the same trouble with my 1211 a while back, and it was because there was fuel in the oil causing some blow by. It was forcing the oil through the breather -into the tube, and then into the filter housing. I rebuilt the carb, reset the float, and took the breather assembly apart and thoroughly cleaned it...and no more oil blowing through the breather/hose into the filter. I cant remember if I swapped out the fuel pump or not...
