Default 105 Carb
Why does the float bowl bolt/washer on my 105 carburetor continue to leak ? New bowl,new washer----tried just getting it snug,---then tight---then tighter----still leaks ! HELP !!!

Take your float bowl off,
find a deep well socket aprox size in diam of gasket,
set float bowl on a flat pice of wood,
set socket over hole in bottom of float bowl,
lightly hit socket,

This should put the bowl back to where it will seal.

Bowl is probly bent from over tightening.

Has worked for me on the couple of float bowls that where leaking on me and this was the advice I was given.

Default float bowl leak
The bowl leaks at the bottom/mounting bolt only. I replaced the washer on the mounting bolt,doubled the washers,straightened the mount hole, and experimented with different degrees of "tight". Yesterday I replaced the bowl and mounting washer. It still leaks

Default Float bowl bolt/washer leak cc105 Kohler carb
Re-checked for the source of the leak. Fuel is only getting past the washer and mounting bolt on the bottom of the bowl. Experimented with; finger tight, to "hope this dosn't strip it", 2 washers, and then a new bowl. It still leaks. What am I mising.

You could have a very tiny pin hole in the bowl hold bowl up to sunlight and inspect.

Float bowl is new(cc original equipment) and so is gasket. Plan to put "Form A Gasket" between bolt & washer.

Not sure if I would do that. There's a reason why it's leaking with a new gasket, got pics?

Default float bowl bolt gasket leak
Thanks Duke; I'm not sure that I can provide pictures-I'll do my best. I can tell you that the new bowl;seats well, is square to the carb flange,and clean at the bolt/washer mounting surface. The new bowl has a new baffle, gasket, and bowl nut washer. The only fuel leak has been, and still is at the bowl nut. I'm not wild about using "form-a-gasket" either. The correct gasket on a good bowl should be enough. What harm would there be in leaving the baffle gasket out? If I could navigate away from this page without loosing this draft ,I would include the names of everyone who helped me out. Thank you all. Steve

how tight does the float bowl bolt need to be ?
