Guys, I am not at all familiar with the early cubs and am not even sure this is an IH rear. But, a friend needs to find a replacement and has asked me to identify and locate a new one for a customer of his. I have checked this up against an original rear on Google Image and it looks nothing like it.
What say you all? Thanks. Weaverama

That is a peerless rear. I don't see any mounting plates, so it might be out of one of there lawn tractors. Something like a 1315.

Thanks AJ. That was my second guess. Those 80's lawn tractors are even more of a mystery to me.

It appears to be real close to Peerless in a Quietline 1100. Can anyone confirm?
Thanks.

I think a 1100 had a belt drive to a 90 gearbox to a IH / mtd transmission. It was a pretty cheap but slick rig up. That gear box you show isn't the same thing. Id look newer than a 1100.

I have a rear for a 482 in the back of my truck and one on the floor of my basement. The 1100 and the 482 both use the same rearend and the ones I have, have a plate welded to each axle housing for frame mounts. That one doesn't have those mounts. That's why I assume it's from a newer LT.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
