Default Is this a problem?

I noticed this yesterday while mowing with my 1450 with dual factory hydraulics. When I lowered the deck, if I held the lever in the down position, she picked up ground speed. Is this normal or do I have a problem?

There is no repair needed! What is happening when you hold the control valve in one position. You are super charging the drive pump and this will speed up your movement. This is normal.

sounds like an easy fix to me- just don't hold the lever in place. Cannot think of any reason you would need to.

Just happened that I did this while making a 180 turn. I always pick the deck up when I do a 180. I was concerned something really bad was about to happen to the tranny and I don't need that at the start of the mowing season.

Last week I swapped hydro's in my 782.
My cork gasket was weeping a bit so I decided to replace it and while I was at it, I thought I would try a different hydro I picked up a while back to see if it was a good one.
Long story short, both hydro's are very good but the present one I installed does just as you describe, it speeds up when the lever is held past the stop. the other hydro doesn't do that.
What I did notice was that there is a difference where the hydro's mount to the differential.
The present one does not need the 3 holes in the cork gasket area,
as the swash plate in the motor is cast into the housing unlike the older style that is held in with 2 torex bolts, requiring the holes for the bolt heads
I believe the 3rd hole is a oil return.
Possibly that is the cause of the difference in the speed up as there is no oil return from the motor housing, just around the bearing.

My 149 does the same thing, I pretend its like the torque amplifier(TA) onthe big reds like the 806,(lol) I was told its normal.

The reason for the pickup in speed when using the implement lift is, that the Implement Circuit within the Hydro uses a 600# Relief Valve while the Drive Circuit only uses 200# Relief Valve. Thus when one uses the implement function, more pressure is being produced for the Output Motor for the period of time the implement handle is engaged.
