I agree, is it about the Zero turn mower like tank? or the tank off a 48'' tractor?

in the cub cadet world, i thought there was only the one zero turn "tank"... mine is 3 years old and today the blades stopped engaging when i pulled the button.

my guy (dealer) has been out of pocket all day today, but he finally got back while ago and called me... he's thinking its a low voltage problem... maybe the battery is bad, even though it shows 12V, it may not hold the amperage under a load... its the original battery...

i'll work on it in the morning...

thanks...

Ah Well there is but sometimes specifics help, not trying to be a smart a$$ by any means, anyway...

It could possibly be the battery not holding the proper amout of amps. If you use it on a regular basis it could also have a wire thats grounding out someplace and creating the voltage issue, or possibly button had worn out, or the connectors leading to it have worn. Not to familiar with the Tank series but trying to help where i can.

for what it's worth, and as reference for those that may encounter this problem in the future...

YES, my guy was RIGHT! i put a new battery on (can you believe the prices of batteries these days? abt twice what i remember paying for the last one) and the mower fired up, the blades engaged, and i mowed all afternoon yesterday.

i thought i'd add this to the discussion because i haven't found this actual solution being discussed anywhere... all i found was references to a PTO clutch problem.

this dealer made a great call on this, he could have soaked me good on a repair bill because i was clueless... the reason i've done business with him for 15 years +/-. the reason we've put 2 new cub cadets on the farm in the past 3 years... i've started using the TANKS instead of finish mowers, its a lot handier, they're more agile than tractors, and i can get the jobs done quicker.

i wish they made one i could bush hog with :-)

seey'all next time!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
