Default 1641 whines

I have a 1641 thats starts right up runs good. The problem is at first when going forward it whines like crazy, it goes almost all away after running for 10 minutes. Still whines slightly at highest speed, or going up hill. Fluid levels are good. Help please.

Change the Hy-Tran fluid and filter (with a WIX 51410, NAPA Gold 1410, or Cub Cadet filter).

Default Still having problems

Ok, so i change fluid with all cub stuff. Still having problems with weak power and whining. I did notice that with the dump valve in the up or down position tractor can still be pushed. Is there and adjustment?

I'm not sure what you mean by weak power, can you describe what is happening?

As for whining, these hydros whine quite a bit, it's normal. When I first bought my 1864 I wondered if something was wrong, but it has run perfectly for years now, whining all the way. When I steer it really brings the whine up a note, just that small power steering ram is enough to put a load on the pump.

Default Loss of power

The loss of power i have is on an incline. On a hill the tractor almost stops. What tips me off is no matter if the hydro dump valve is up or down i can push the tractor pretty easily.

JSFRIED215 my 1641 pushes very easy also no matter what state the dump valve arm is in. I think I would take off the tunnel cover off and make sure the dump lever is going all the way down. Could be hanging up slightly letting the hydraulics bleed over a little bit when running.

So i had time to take a look last night and found that the top lever wasn't pushin the arm to to relief valve all the way down, reworked the linkage and it runs like a different tractor. Thanks for the help.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
