Default The Story of My 108

Got some seat time on my 108, I wanted to share my story. I have 2 lawns to mow, the lawn around my house, and the lawn on the hill above my house. I was mowing the upper lawn with a push mower, thinking about getting a riding mower. I came across a CC 108 for $250. I thought it was perfect, because of the hill I didn't want to spend too much because I would leave it out once I got it up there, covered. Fell in love with my 108, so I don't want to leave it out anymore. So I had to make a path to get her up and down the hill. Previously, I used my neighbors path, but I wanted my own, so I could come and go as I pleased. I have to do a little more grading, and I'm gonna plant grass so it doesn't wash out, but here is the yard that started it all and my path up the hill. And some pics of the 108.

That is a sweet looking 108. A heck of a hill climber too . I bet those big weights really help out with the rear ag tires.

Yeah, it's a serious hill. The pics of me on the hill are the first time i went up it, w/out weights, and before I leveled it some. I filled some low points, dug out high points, and it's pretty good now. There's still a section at the top I want to level some more. I put the weights on and had my girlfriend drive it up and down after I had worked on it more, with me walking beside her, in case it spun anywhere or started to tip. I've made 2 trips up and down since, with the weights on. Definitely do not want to tip it! Didn't have any problems. If you think that path is steep, the one in my neighbor's yard is actually steeper! But it's straight up and down. If I couldn't get her up and down that hill, I would have sold her. Can't bear to leave her outdoors!

Nice 108 ya got there.. We have a mower shop in town, the guy who owns it dragged in a 108 from somewhere ..It is all repainted in spray bomb pastel yellow..but runs good and actually drives OK,..He told me he thought it has maybe a 16-23 HP on it, and was a little surprised when I checked out the engine number and found out it had only 10....I woulda bought it from him if he had a reasonable price on it, but he wants $450.....which around here will be a tough sell even if he gives it a GOOD paint job and fixes all the leaking tires.. I think maybe he wants to keep it to drag stuff in the shop..

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
