Default Deck size
What is the largest size deck that will fit under my 1282? Someone told me the 50" was a bit of an overkill for the 12hp Kohler?

50c and it will do fine. My grandpa had a 1250 with 50a on it with no problems. Sure you couldn't put it in tall grass but normal mowing conditions it'll do fine.

There were the 44/50 Series Decks, the 44A/50A Series Decks, then the 44C/50C Series decks.

44/50 & 44A/50A used 3/8" wide center pulley.

44C/50C used a 5/8" wide center pulley.

Other than the center pulley and some other minor modifications, all these decks mounted the same.
