I'm helping someone with a IH Cub Cadet 147.
Has anyone installed a narrow frame hydraulic system on an IH Cub Cadet 147? Any usual problems-mods that need done to make it work? Thanks Merk

I know the 147 typically used their Electric Lift. I but can not see why the NF Hydraulic Unit wouldn't work.
Keep us posted on this project.

Owner claims a 147 requires modification of the driveshaft due to the exterior flywheel screen. Then He was told that the cylinder bottoms out on the lift side due to clearance issues.
This 147 has a manual lift. Owner wants to upgrade to a electric lift. He is having problems finding one that works and in his price range. I have an off topic garden tractor that strip gear in the electric lift. Dealer wants $515 for a new gear.

Merk,
I have never put a hydraulic lift on a 147, but he should be able to loosen the engine by removing the engine mounting bolts. Remove the driveshaft cover, and with the hydraulic lift mounted on its bracket, set the belt on the pulley behind the shroud and on the pulley on the hydraulic lift. Pull it taut and align it that way. Once he finds the mounting position, mark the holes with sharpie (since he may need to drill into the frame). Set the hydraulic lift unit and then the cylinder can be adjusted as needed. If he has to re-locate the cylinder so that it doesn't bottom out, then could adjust that or if he has to, leave the Armstrong lift on the cub, put it in the float position and link the cylinder bracket to an Armstrong lift (paddle) bracket. This may require him to modify or adjust the mounting bracket for the cylinder of the hydraulic lift. He may also be able to use the correct rockshaft for the hydraulic lift, which would be the best case scenario. Cub Cadet 123

Check out this thread:
https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...ad.php?t=27571 This is where the conversation came from that I didn't think it would work (or I'd have one already, a NF hydraulic lift would look BA on a 147 IMO.)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
