I'm looking to purchase this and wanted some support. Its a 122 but they replaced the 12 hp with a rebuilt 10 hp. Comes with two decks that are really nice. The seat is new. They only problem is either the PTO needs adjusted or replaced. $500 firm. Is this a good deal?

Ag tires, good paint, good seat, rebuilt engine, lights, 2 great decks... Hmm up here that would go for $800-1000. I tgink you should take it!

That's a nice looking 122! Factory paint or has it been repainted? It's got the light kit so that's a good thing. My 122 has a 10 hp as well and it does pretty good. To bad it didn't have the creeper but not a bad price. I would if it runs good with no smoking.

$500 is high in my opinion. I think prices are going down. I used to have trouble selling 102s and 122s for $375 five years ago when prices were good and people were buying stuff. The PTO is going to cost a minimum of $50 or so to fix. Ask him what he means by 'rebuilt'. Not everyone has the same definition. To me, it would mean new governor, crank turned, new rod, new overbore, oversize piston, all new gaskets and seals, carb rebuild, etc. A lot of people think you can 'rebuild' an engine by putting in new rings only.
Young enthusiest is in Canada, where prices are much higher. That tractor would never sell for $800-$1000 here. Here in Illinois, that would probably struggle to bring more than $300 at an auction. That tractor will probably need the same amount of work as many other cheaper tractors you find, and you could probably get 2 or 3 needing some work for what he's asking for that one. |

That's a nice 122. It's funny, but location has a lot to do, with the price of a tractor.

lmcclinton that is a nice cub. 500$ is a little steep in my honest opinion. I guess it would be a matter of how bad do you really want the tractor. If you can justify that amount of money then it is worth every penny of it. Everyone has a different $ value of what stuff is worth. I watched a whooped and hammered 100 sell at the Whitney Point farm days auction for 475$ and it would not even start. Had a creeper gear but don't even know if it worked or not.Hood was drilled full of holes. Apparently someone saw a diamond in the rough. Good luck.

Lee,
I would talk him down. At most I might go $350 The cluch is a touchy subject to fix it right its going to cost you between $50 up to mabey over $200 or more. I will have to go with Matt on this one, Shearch craigs list There are tractors that have been on there for a mounth for less dough. I would hold out or give less $. I just got into a nightmare new style wide frame cluch, the brake parts were all shot and the pully had been welded. They melted the belt off and left the piece of belt in the sheeve apperantly for years because it was pitted beyond rerepair. just the pully is $100 the seals were torn from the bearing $30 two cone screws missing $16 button gone $11 cluch kit $54 brake shoe $28 Pressure plate warpped $10 at machine shop. I would hold out till it drops in price or for that amount you could buy a few rust buckets and build a nice one, you know how to make 'em look good plus I still have your ag tires you gave me I'll trade them back for the left over parts.

Yeah, even here in "the land of NO Cubs" $500.00 is pretty high, although it depends on the "rebuild" if it has been bored, new piston, all the valve work done, turned crank, new rod, new governor, gaskets, points, condenser...
Someone correct my if I'm wrong but didn't the 122's have the hinged fiberglass seat instead of the rubber one, kinda makes me think it's really a 102 with 122 decals or a 122 hood. If you're stuck on buying this one, try to get the owner to have the PTO rebuilt and then give him $500.00 for it (make sure it's really rebuilt though and not just taken apart cleaned, painted and put back together). |

If you parted the thing out you'd be looking at a higher range than the $500.00 $$$$$ mark?
Light's Tires look great, Hood, etc., etc., I think thats a LOT of work but dooable? I'm far from any veteran out there but have been following Craigs List & E-bay for some time. I'd offer him $ 400.00 & run with it. I saw this one yesterday just 10 min., from my house. This guy did a FANTASTIC job in restoring it. One can eat off the thing, that good. ----> http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/grd/1922635367.html But this is my opinion only. Since your gonna pass it don't make a hoot. Nik, |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
