IH Cub cadet 149 Lights
I worked on the electrical system this weekend. Using the wiring diagram in the service manual, I was able to replicate a headlight harness using 14 gauge copper wire and a variety of butt connectors.
Upon further inspection, I found a blown 20 amp fuse under the dash, so I changed it. With the new fuse in place, the wiring harness worked. I now have functional headlights! I then disconnected the battery, and wired and installed a new set of rear lights. A turn of the light switch illunimates both front and rear lamps.

With 14GA wire...you should NOT exceed 15 Amps in Fusing.

It has been bored .20 over, and I have no idea how many hours are on the rebuild. The cylider, piston, and valves look good, after carbon removal, and the valve seats are clean--So I am going to leave it alone for now. Note: I have another 149 with a 42" mower deck, but with no rear lift. This is my "Winter Tractor", but I do plan to disassemble and repaint it this Spring/Summer. We have not had a heavy snow in central Ohio since January  so i wait....

tractor looks great!!! i can understand the headlights, but what was the purpose of tail lights? jeff

Tail lights are used for night time identification......especially in the winter months if you are plowing snow since it turns dark later and sometimes you are on the roadway to get the job done. Better to err on the side of safety!!!
