My grandfather was big into the old steam engines. When he passed away I was given several boxes of items and this plate was in one of them. Was wondering if anyone Knows anything about this event. Steam-Era 1976 Milton Ontario with the words Waterloo just under the picture of the tractor. On the back of the plate is says: Decorated in Canada, 22 K Gold, Can Art China, Collingwood Ontario. Stamped into the plate material are the large letters USA

The Picture looks to me to be a Waterloo steam engine/tractor
I'm guessing the plate was made in USA and decorated in Canada for the event. Ya have to remember '76 was our 200th birthday celebration year. It seems like I remember they have a steam show on Labor day weekend since the early sixties |

Yes, your right on somethings.....
Steam Show every Labour Day http://www.steam-era.com/ (Hopefully I don't get ![]() I have seen lots of plates, cups, serving platters with that logo on them at my parents and grand parents house. This company still is in opperation in Collingwood according to profile Canada web site. They are like a distributor of these types of china if I remember correctly. Your right - plate was made in USA. These items are normally quite good quality china. NOT made in China! Nice find, bet your proud to have this from him after all these years. ![]()

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
