Default Cold natured Kohler

Im new to this forum so i hope this is right. I have a cub 1650 hydro with the 16hp k-341 engine and was curious as to what usually causes an engine to be cold natured. If I store it in a garage for a week it will fire up without any problem. but if it stays outside over night you might as well forget it. sorry if I started this in the wrong place

How cold has it been? Could be water in the fuel freezing the carb up? I hate to go straight to a "worse case" but could be worn out rings that expand enough to run the engine when it is warm.

Default cold natured kohler

I hope not i havent had it that long once it starts it runs fine no smoke it just takes forever to fire its happened twice now and it only does it when i leave it outside (-12 under carport due to no other room) I have to get my truck to jump it. I didn't no if points or spark plug gap could make it cold natured but you may be right I know the previous owner isnt easy on things, can you adjust valves on these, I didnt no because of the ACR and how do you time these with the points sorry about all of the questions

Mine fired up first try last week when it was 7 degrees outside. I run E10 ethanol fuel and 10W-30 oil. The plug is new, and the wire is off of my 782, which is newer than what was on it.

Choke it, throttle set half way up, crank! Should pop right off.

You don't exactly say what the no start symptom is... Does it crank over? I see in one post you say that you need to jump it to get it started... Does it always start with a jump? Could it be something as simple as a bad battery or bad/loose connections?

Sorry if I confused battery is good and I put all new grounds and it has a new starter and solenoid. The engine will crank but it will never fire it will hit but wont start. If I apply any throttle it won't even attemp to start, but if I roll it in the garage for a day it will start. I didnt know if off time or carb issues could be the problem does anyone no what static timing is. plug and wire are new haven't changed points yet what is a good gap for points

Your Cub has a battery ingnition system. Your starter is taking the majority of the battery power to spin the motor over. Hydro Cubs are the worse ones because the starter is spinning the motor and hydro pump like Bill said.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
