Has anyone had experience with this motor? I notice it's a modified K341 except it has an OHV cylinder head and the oil pan is larger. I don't know the availability of these motors but parts shouldn't be too hard to come by. Do like it.
Thinking of swapping it in the 1450. Chase ![]() |

I am not sure but all the K361s I have seen on the auction site have a wide base which won't fit into a cub frame without extreme modification to the block.
Also since the carb is higher, it might interfere with the hood. I read somewhere, the K361s had rocker arm issues, I wonder how they got oil up there without an oil pump? Others may be able to comment further on this. I thought of pursuing this too, but for me the "wide base" block is a showstopper. I found the K341, 16hp, is a nice step up in power over the K321, especially when ported. |

Parts are going to be hard to come by. The connecting rod went NLA a couple years ago, and I'm sure a lot of other things are too. I've only ever seen one of these engines. They really shake too. I'd just leave the 1450 as is...

Thanks for the tips guys, I, backing off from the ideal because of "would be" logistical issues because of a lack of parts.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
