I recently picked up a 125 my brother wanted to get rid of. It was his father-in-law and it sat in a shed for years. They say they couldn't get it going. I put the gas tank back on check out a few things. No spark. I cleaned points spark came back and it fired right up. Changed oil and have been running it. No attachments but I think there is a snow blade in the corner he is going to bring over.
My question is on the PTO or lack of. Someone removed it and the engagement lever at some point. I have the arm to engage it. Looking at the K301. It has a pulley to for the starter/generator. A small stub of the crank stick out last that pulley. If I had a PTO how does it fasten on? Or did someone take off the PTO and add just a pulley. Craig |

I picked a used PTO. The friction disk is cracked so I need to get a kit for the PTO. I also got the front engine pulley as the pulley on the K301 didn't have the PTO basket. This pulley didn't look like the basket was knocked off.
Where any of the Cubs in this series produced without a front PTO? This 125 was missing the engage lever back by the dash. The engagement lever in from of the PTO. I have all these items now short of the bolt, spring, and bushing for where the lever attached to the dash tower. |

I thought after getting the 125 I would just use it to pull a cart around. I have 3 other tractors with attachments. 125 seems to be running well enough to add the PTO. I have all the parts now except for the rebuild kit.
I did find the snow plow over at my brothers and thats attached now. I found a narrow frame mower with sub frame close by. Might take a look at that and make use of the PTO I will be putting on. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
