Default 42" Mulch Kit
I'm looking to get a Mulch Kit for my new CC LTX1040 and have a question... I have found a few places on-line that sell the kit for between $89.00 to $103.00. It appears the "Kit" includes the Plug Assembly and two mulch blades. When I price these items separately, the blades cost $25.75 each and the plug is between $13.00 and $15.00 for a total of around $66.00! Is there anything that comes in the kit besides the two blades and the plug? The Cub Cadet Part Number for the kit is: 19A70002000; 42"/46" Mulch Kit The individual parts are listed as: Blades: 742-04214 (replaced by 792-04214) $25.75 and Plug Assembly: 631-04262, $13.16...

Thanks for any clarification!

Well, I e-mailed the fine folks at M&D Mower in OH and asked what the Mulch Kit (their price $98.00) contained, and got a nice reply stating it only contained the two Mulch Blades and the Plug Assembly, (total $64.00 when purchased separately), along with a comment that he had no idea why the Kit cost $34.00 more than the total of the individual parts. So, I ordered the build your own Mulch Kit and saved a bundle!

I don't personally know that much about the newer Cubs. I am glad you found the parts (or kit) you were looking for.

You are right, generally speaking, a kit would be less money than the individual parts within. Looks like you got the better end of that deal before someone at MTD figures that one out. :biggrin2.gif:
