It has the fine-spline axles and bolt-together carrier. The axles are the larger 30mm ones. The steering box is probably 3-turn but would need mods to use on an 82 series or anything else, as you have to get rid of all the tilt stuff.

1440 rearend
I got the 1440 bought but not home yet . What will I need to do to get the carrier in a old manual tranny ? Will the ring gear out of the 1440 mesh with the pinion in the three speed ? I've got the machine work covered just need to know what I need to do. There will be a list of parts for sale , so let me know if your inerested . Thanks Bruce S.

No, the ring gear will not mesh with the pinion...IH rears have helical cut ring and pinion, CCC tractors are straight cut. Even if they did, it's not good to mix and match ring and pinion gears; they wear to match each other. You will have to change the ring gear and bore out the axle tubes for larger roller bearings. I would also recommend downloading an IH service manual and studying the section about removing and installing the carrier. The picture towards the end that explains the contact pattern of the gear teeth and where the carrier bearing shims are to be moved is bassackwards. If the backlash is too loose, you have to move shims from the non-ring gear side of the carrier to the ring gear side of the carrier and vice versa.
