Looking to go another route for power on my 108. I was thinking it would be nice to have a V-twin Kohler Command or something along the lines of that. I am open to any suggestions but I need to be able to keep my front pto cluch.
What are you guys running and what can I fit that wont require too much modification of the frame rails or hood etc.? I have the ability to mod the frame but I dont want to, I like the stock look and dont want to chop, cut, and rebuild. Any info would be great and thanks in advance! |

The Command won't fit without cutting the frame, and you can forget about using the mechanical PTO clutch.
If you like the stock look...keep the original motor. You can't do much better than a K-series Kohler. |

Thanks Matt. I am currently running a 14 horse K-Series. I would just like to get a bit more power out of it and would like to have a pressurized oil system with a filter. I do like the K-Series engines but as far as going bigger than what I have, what are my options that wont require a ton of cash?

Check out the Killer Kohler build up on this site:
http://kirkengines.com/ I did that to motor in my 100 (K241). I was able to try it out a few plow days this fall. I like the power gains to the 100. I don't run out of power like I did before. I want to go to Indiana plow day http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=6977 and try the 12 inch plow on it. |

Ok boys, bought a twin Kubota Diesel and it is mounted in the tractor as of now. The thing for the most part dropped right in. A quick stop at the local motorcycle scrap yard supplied me with a radiator that will sit behind the 108 grill perfectly! Getting that mounted is on the to-do list for this weekend and then she should be up and running. I still need to deal with the clutch set-up but an idea came to me this morning that appears as though it is going to work.
To answer some of your questions: Twin cyl Kubota water cooled diesel. I have read conflicting reports on this motor, some say 9hp and others report 12.5hp. Either way it should be more than sufficient for what I am using it for. A very small amount of frame trimming was required to remove the stock motor mounts and some trimming on the factory bell housing mount on the motor was required to narrow it up. The motor actually dropped in with very little effort. I know this doesnt provide much info but I dont have much time at the moment...... Patience is a virtue......... Yes I have pictures and will provide a link to them when I have some more time to get them up and posted. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
