Default Need Help installing dowel pin into drive shaft
Hi everyone,

I am in the process of replacing the drive shaft and couplers on my 129. I am wondering what the trick is to get the dowel pin installed onto the front of the drive shaft? I have tried hammering, but I am afraid of bending the pin if I hit it too hard. Should I use heat? any tips would greatly appreciated.

First off, Wear safety glasses.
If this is a factory Cub Cadet dowel pin, You are not likely going to bend it. It will shatter instead of bend.
Pressing them in is recommended instead of hammering for that reason. If you have a vise you can usually get the job done.

I would have put the pin in the freezer and then put the end of the shaft above a trouble light for awhile. It will practically fall together if you do that.
