Default engine cradle mod
guys, while i was looking at the QL rail mod in the tech library that RChristensen posted , i noticed that in the post itself, it said the piece was: 1.50 x 8.75 x .25 and in the picture, it says the length is 8.5. is this just a mistake in writing/typing? or will the length vary from machine to machine? i will be pulling the engine out of my 1450 in the upcoming days for a rebuild and was going to do the upgrade on the railing and i just happened to notice the different measurements. thanks jeff

It can't vary from engine to engine...they're all the same.

Just bolt the rails to the pan and measure the area where it goes to get the correct length.

Bolt your engine's oil pan to the engine mount sides and just cut the .25" piece to fit. I think I went with 8.75", but 8.5" will work. Just depends on how much overlap you want. Structurally, it won't make any difference once it's welded in place. Bolting it up to the oil pan while you tack it in place will ensure the sides don't move or warp while you are welding.

ok, thats sounds logical. i've never had a ISO mounted engine off before. but i did do some tearing down of the 1450 last night. not as bad as i thought. ordered some new ISO mounts and have the steel waiting to be cut. i have to replace a seal, hydro fan, and install new rings and my wife will be mowing grass and taking names next year!!!! jeff
