Default Tearing Down the 105 with the boys

Well the boys wanted to help dad, so we tore the 105 down the other day. I knew it needed a piston. Where is a known affordable source for aftermarket kolher engine parts? I priced a kohler piston Heres a few pics.
Thanks,Rich

Wow!! That piston is beyond repair!!! Looks like a great project with lots of great help to go around. Is that a brand new White mower in the background? Nice looking piece of equipment. Have fun with your rebuild.

On mine the piston scorn around the top edge on one side, then it snapped the connecting rod. Did your's snap also? Thats a busted up piston for sure!

rpr383 it's great that the boys have an interest in rebuilding the cub. It is always great to have a couple extra pairs of hands in the mix. Boy that 105 was ran hard. I have seen some whopped pistons but not quite that bad. That thing has seen some bad trauma. PS tell Mama that is an excellent mechanical learning tool for the boys.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
