1250 that kept losing power
All, hopefully I'm not jinxing myself here but I wanted to share in case someone else has this issue.
My 1250 would lose power when running under load after about 15 minutes. It would bog down so low that if I didn't throttle down it would die. I tried just about everything troubleshooting this issue including, checking the head, replacing the voltage regulator, coil, adjusting the governor, and the points. Nothing worked. One thing that I noticed from the day I bought the tractor was the voltmeter always showed that it was charging a lot. I don't have a good analog meter so I couldn't get a read on what was being fed to the battery. Well the starter went out on the tractor so I replaced it with one I bought off of Amazon. First thing I noticed was how much quieter it is when starting the tractor. Second, the voltmeter is now looking normal and it not once has bogged down after it's been warmed up. I can't explain it, but I think the starter was causing all my problems. Hopefully, this might help someone some day.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
