Default OEM or aftermarket Coil?

I have a Cub 129. My coil pack (original) has gone bad. I need to replace it no place local to me has them in stock so I have to order one anyways. From the Cub dealer it's $135 on Amazon or tractor supply country line brand they run between 38 to 58 dollars. Does anybody have luck with the cheaper probably chinese-made versions? Or is it best for me just to stick with the Kohler brand which I doubt is made in the United States anymore. The coil I have is marked USA made. Any insight is appreciated.

I would check with the sponsors at the top of the page first. $135 sounds high to me.

Most of what is available is off shore made, and
as long as the resistance is close, anything will work.
oh,
it is not a "coil pack" its just an old fashion single coil.
If you google "coil pack" you probably will get some new 'lectronic thingy that will not work or even fit in the bracket.

Have you tested the one you think is faulty to be sure it actually is?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
