Default EPS questions…

Hi folks! I have a GTX2154LE which has that stupid problematic electric power steering. I only drove it a short distance when I bought it to get to the trailer, as it was overrevving- steering seemed sporadic in that short distance, but the battery was discharged at time( and had a 23hp engine) After I put 18 hp Command engine in, didn’t seem like it was working at all. Does the 23hp motor put out different electrical power? It does have new battery fully charged. Or did the time I ran it on low battery( and who knows how it was run before it as traded/etc) possibly kill the EPS in it? I tried finding a diagram for which fuses/relays control it( I only see a few fuses, but a bunch of relays) , but they aren’t labeled for what they’re for. Mind you, I suck at electrical problems other than checking to see if fuse is blown.(I don’t know how to test relays). My question- does the engine have to be running in order to check for power/operation of the EPS system? I think the deck is able to be raised/lowered with only key on engine off(electric also). Kinda like to find an answer before condemning the EPS and making it manual steer, as it’s not gonna be repaired for its cost(and if parts are even available anymore)…

It looks like there is a 40 amp fuse that feeds power to the EPS module.

I don't see any issue switching engines as long as your CH18 is charging properly.

I've not heard a lot of good things about the electronic steering in these new machines and parts are stupid expensive.

All fuses are good. Pulled each relay out and looked for corrosion, all blades looked normal. I find it odd that Cub has abandoned ANY type of power steering on their new machines. An XT3 with front 3 stage blower only is priced at $7400 at my local dealer. No thanks…
